What Do Muslims Believe

Description

A Clear and Concise Guide to the Core Beliefs of Islam
What Do Muslims Believe? offers a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental Islamic doctrines, directly drawn from the Qur’an and the teachings of the Prophet and his Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them). Written by Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Taqi al-Modarresi, this accessible guide is ideal for Muslims seeking to strengthen their understanding, as well as for non-Muslims exploring Islamic beliefs with clarity and depth.

Five Pillars of Islamic Doctrine
This book is structured around five foundational principles of faith in Shi’a Islam, known as Uṣūl al-Dīn:

Tawḥīd – Divine Unity
ʿAdl – Divine Justice
Nubuwwah – Prophethood
Imāmah – Divine Leadership
Maʿād – Resurrection and the Afterlife

Each section provides carefully explained evidence from both Qur’anic verses and Prophetic traditions, exploring topics like the nature of God, justice in divine governance, the role and mission of prophets, the necessity of divinely appointed Imams, and what awaits humanity after death.

A Qur’anic and Rational Approach
Rather than relying on Greek philosophy or mysticism, Ayatollah al-Modarresi emphasizes a purely Qur’anic framework, rooted in the natural disposition of human beings (fiṭrah). The book critiques the philosophical and mystical deviations that have crept into Islamic discourse and calls for a return to authentic, revelation-based belief.
